Coed boot campers,
We are offering a discount for couples that sign up(or if you get friend to sign up). Get half off the second person. I had this offer for couples before, but am extending it to friends as well. Here is a little more information on the coed boot camp. Cost is $249 for the 4 weeks. I'm keeping the size of the camp fairly small, about 8-12 people. I only have so much equipment(and can transport only so much equipment) and I want to make sure it's a good workout and not over crowded. I do have on the website that option now, so you can signup at Registration. Next camp starts 2 June. It looks like the concensus on days is M,W,Th at 6pm. Hopefully that will work for everyone. Although I don't like the big gap from Th to M, I know most people will have things they'd rather be doing on friday evening. The location will be at the little park that is just off of Parker Rd, turning at Indianpipe Ln. Going south on Parker Rd, Indianpipe is about a half mile from Twenty Mile/Hill Top Rd. There is a church across Parker Rd at the turn. The workout spot will be across the bridge and in a small grove of trees to the right, after crossing the bridge. I plan to bring some implements of pain, I mean workout equipment. I'll have some kettlebells, sandbags, some pullup bars, big ropes, tires... it'll be fun. Plus we have some trail we can do a little running on. Length of workout time will be approximately 60 minutes. Attendance. Since this camp is only 3 days per week, and only 4 weeks long, I really need everyone to commit to being there all the days. I think you'll be wasting your time if you don't. If you've already got time scheduled to be away, we can work something out, and maybe get you a workout you can do while gone. But it would be better to come to camp. Physical ability. This camp will be fairly tough. I'm not trying to make it so elite that the normal person can't do it, but on the other hand it's not for the woefully out of shape, or a person with serious joint(especially knee) problems. A person should be able to run at least a mile, do squats, and at least attempt to do pullups(I know they can be tough, but you shouldn't be hurting your shoulders or something while attempting them). It will be defeating the purpose of this camp if a person cannot do the majority of the exercises, at least to some extent. We should be able to work around some minor issues.(I will have an alternate for pullups, as I know many cannot do them). That's not to say I expect everyone to be able to blow thru the course right off. I expect it to be hard, and the goal is to improve. Training methodology. Last year I used a little of the hype from the movie "The 300" for getting a little enthusiasm for this boot camp. That's not to say that I'm copying their training methods, since those training methods have been a favorite of mine for a long time. It's just nice that this type of thing is now becoming more popular and mainstream. You don't need a lot of fancy equipment to get a body of iron. In fact, I think you're much more likely to be successful at forging a new body by using these more "primitive" methods than by using the machines at the gym. We use more full-body, functional type exercises, as opposed to isolation exercises. The body does not work in isolation. It moves as a whole unit. You'll be better at playing sports and just be able to move better generally by doing these types of workouts. My role. I will be primarily a facilitator and coach for the workouts. I may sometimes do some of the workout with you, but especially at first I'll be watching and motivating. I do want to make sure we have good form on a few things, as I don't want to see anyone get any injuries from either accident or just bad form. Diet. If you're really wanting to make a change in your body composition(fat content), then being on a good diet is crucial. The boot camp will give you a good foundation for building some muscle, strength, and endurance. But if you eat too much, the fat will not go away very easily. This boot camp will NOT be run under the Adventure Boot Camp name. It will be run under Body Tamer, which is my parent company to the Parker Boot Camp. We will have a release to sign before boot camp participation. It's just the usual stuff about exercise carrying risks, checking with your doctor, etc. Let me know if you have other questions. Andy |
