Hey Coed Boot Campers,
New PROMO!! When you and a friend/spouse sign-up for camp, your friend/spouse will get 25% off the registration cost!
Coed Boot Camp Details
Cost is $224 for 4 weeks.
I'm keeping the size of the camp fairly small, about 8-12 people. I only have so much equipment (and can transport only so much equipment) plus I want to make sure it's a good workout and not over crowded.
You can sign-up using the following link: Registration.
The next camp starts May 26, 2009.
Currently, we're planning on having the camp Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings at 6pm.
For most people, Friday evening is not a convenient time to workout and many people end up not coming.
I encourage you to train on Saturday and I would be happy to give you some training ideas for your weekend workout.
The camp will be held at the park that is just off of Parker Rd, turning at Indianpipe Ln.
Going south on Parker Rd, Indianpipe is about a half mile from Twenty Mile/Hill Top Rd intersection.
There is a church across Parker Rd at the turn.
Or check out this map.
Once you’ve parked, you will walk to the workout spot; just cross the bridge and look for us in a small grove of trees to the right.
I plan to bring some implements of pain, err..I mean workout equipment.
I'll have kettlebells, sandbags, some pull-up bars, big ropes, tires... it'll be fun. Plus we have the Cherry Creek trail we can run on.
We’ll be working out for approximately 60 minutes.
Attendance
Since this camp is only 3 days per week, and only 4 weeks long, I really need everyone to commit to 100% attendance. I think you'll be wasting your time if you can’t commit to 100% attendance.
I understand that life gets in the way and schedules may require that you miss a day or two of camp. Of course it would be better to have you at camp, but if you will be gone, I will be happy to provide a workout plan for you to complete while you are gone. We don’t want you to lose the momentum!
Physical Ability
This camp will be fairly tough. I'm not trying to make it so elite that the normal person can't do it, but on the other hand it's not for the woefully out of shape, or a person with serious joint (especially knee) problems.
A person should be able to run at least a mile, do squats, and at least attempt to do pull-ups(I know they can be tough, but you shouldn't be hurting your shoulders or something while attempting them). It will be defeating the purpose of this camp if a person cannot do the majority of the exercises, at least to some extent.
We should be able to work around some minor issues.(I will have an alternate for pull-ups, as I know many cannot do them).
That's not to say I expect everyone to be able to blow through the course right off. I expect it to be hard, and the goal is to improve and get stronger.
Training methodology
In the past, I've used a little of the hype from the movie "300" to generate enthusiasm for this boot camp. That's not to say that I'm copying their training methods, but those training methods have been a favorite of mine for a long time. It's just nice that this type of thing is now becoming more popular and mainstream.
You don't need a lot of fancy equipment to get a body of iron. In fact, I think you're much more likely to be successful at forging a new body by using these more "primitive" methods than by using the machines at the gym. We use more full-body, functional type exercises, as opposed to isolation exercises. The body does not work in isolation; it moves as a whole unit. You'll be better at playing sports and just be able to move better generally by doing these types of workouts.
My role
I will be primarily a facilitator and coach for the workouts. I may sometimes do some of the workout with you, but especially at first I'll be watching and motivating. I will make sure you have good form, as I don't want to see anyone get injured from either accident or just bad form.
Diet
If you really want to make a change in your body composition (fat content), then being on a good diet is crucial. The boot camp will give you a good foundation for building some muscle, strength, and endurance. But if you eat too much, the fat will not go away.
This boot camp will NOT be run under the Adventure Boot Camp name. It will be run under Body Tamer, which is my parent company to the Parker Boot Camp.
We will have a release to sign before boot camp participation. It's just the usual stuff about exercise carrying risks, checking with your doctor, etc.
Let me know if you have other questions.
